NKD Clothing was faced with an interesting challenge when designing the new uniform for staff at the Queensberry Hotel in central Bath.
The hotel had recently undergone extensive refurbishment based around its namesake, the 8th Marquess of Queensberry, who is famous for endorsing the code of rules used in boxing. The brief to NKD was to design a uniform that combined a mix of contemporary comfort, traditional Georgian features and quintessential British boxing mementos.
New uniforms were needed for the hotel management, reception, housekeeping and catering staff, with each reflecting their roles. Management and reception now wear single button suits with olive green and plum shirts with contrasting ties and scarves, while porters have embroidered fleece jackets and waterproof coats to wear over their smart suits.
Female housekeeping staff wear tunic style outfits in Italian fabric while the men have moisture-wicking polos. Supervisors in the hotel’s restaurant and bar have leather aprons with lime green embroidery while waiting staff have olive green fabric aprons.
